Make a Difference in Learning Disability & Trauma Support. Join Our Team at Mallusk!

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real impact in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities and complex needs?

Mallusk is a 24 hour Supported Livings scheme, currently housing 5 residents (male and female) with complex needs associated with learning disabilities. We provide specialist, person-centred support to assist the people we care for to build confidence, develop independence, and thrive in a supportive environment.

What Makes Mallusk Special?

Mallusk is a dynamic, fast-paced service that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and trauma backgrounds. Every day brings opportunities to make a real difference, whether it’s helping a service user gain confidence shopping independently, attend a concert for the first time, or build friendships within the service.

Here, staff work together to encourage independence and self-growth through engaging activities, structured routines, and trauma-informed care. Some of the key activities and initiatives that make our service unique include:

  • Supporting those we care for in building friendships and social networks.
  • Recreational & therapeutic activities - book club, fitness classes, cycling. We are currently undertaking planning the build of an allotment and sensory area.
  • Social & leisure activities - hot chocolate nights, movie nights, discos, and cinema trips
  • Helping individuals build life skills, from managing money to personal care

What Does the Role Involve?

As a Relief Team Leader, you will:

  • Provide specialist support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and trauma backgrounds
  • Use the Positive Behaviour Support model to assess and respond to non-verbal communication and mood changes
  • Assist the people we care for with daily living, personal care, and medication management
  • Encourage the people we care for to participate in activities and social outings
  • Drive the scheme vehicle to facilitate appointments and community participation
  • Work collaboratively with a team of 11 per shift, including Support Staff, Deputy Managers, and the Area Manager

  • Able to work in a fast-changing environment
  • Bubbly and engaging, with a real passion for supporting others
  • Resilient and dedicated to learning and developing in the field of care

Why Join Us?

The small wins make your day, whether it’s helping a service user gain independence or seeing them smile after achieving a personal goal

  • Career progression and personal development opportunities
